Quincy Symphony Hosts Family Concert with Peter and the Wolf at North Quincy High
The Quincy Symphony Orchestra is set to delight families with a special concert on Sunday, March 24, at 2:30 pm, hosted at North Quincy High School. The event promises to be an enchanting afternoon, especially for the young ones, starting with an instrument petting zoo at 1:30 pm, where children can get up close and interact with the musical instruments.
The highlight of the 40-minute concert will be a rendition of Prokofiev's beloved "Peter and the Wolf," featuring narration by Joe Catalano of QATV. In addition to this engaging narrative piece, the audience will be treated to the timeless music of Mozart and Beethoven, making it a perfect cultural outing for the entire family. This event encourages parents and grandparents alike to bring their children and grandchildren for a fun-filled afternoon of music, fostering an early love for the arts through this interactive and educational experience.

Quincy High Welcomes Alumni Ed DeWitt as New Head Football Coach
Quincy High School has officially welcomed Ed DeWitt, a former student and hall of famer, as its new head football coach. DeWitt, who graduated from Quincy High in 2004 and is honored in the Quincy/North Quincy Football Hall of Fame, returns after a five-season tenure coaching at Oliver Ames. Despite a challenging season with Oliver Ames, marked by a 1-9 record this year and a 4-7 record in 2022, DeWitt's coaching background is extensive and diverse. His career in coaching began with the Quincy Point Panthers youth program, followed by an assistant coaching position at Curry College, a Division 3 school located in Milton, between 2010 and 2012.
Apart from his recent role at Oliver Ames, DeWitt has held coaching positions at several high schools, including Canton, Sharon, and Hingham. His expertise extends beyond football, as he teaches history and physical education in Sharon. DeWitt's appointment to Quincy High's football program marks a significant homecoming. It sets the stage for the next chapter in his coaching career, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the community to the Presidents' football team.
