The Quincy Animal Shelter celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special Governor's citation, awarded by Governor Maura Healey, recognizing its long-standing commitment to animal welfare. This achievement highlights the shelter's impactful service and community contributions.

North Quincy High Students Triumph Again at National I.T. Girls Challenge

North Quincy High School students have again distinguished themselves at the prestigious CGI United States I.T. Girls Challenge, clinching the top prize for the second consecutive year. At the 3rd Annual CGI United States I.T. Girls Challenge, a team comprising 11th-grade students Hannah Moriarty, Alexia Laci, Melani Wijaya, and Xuan Mai Ippolito showcased their innovative spirit by designing FalconFocus, an app aimed at enhancing concentration and mindfulness among high school students.

Their creation, FalconFocus, stood out for its practical application and potential to significantly impact student well-being and academic performance. Recognized for their creativity and the app's relevance, the team was honored with a $20,000 scholarship, a testament to their hard work and the promising future in their technological endeavors.

Quincy Youth Hockey Playoff Update: Teams Advance with Eyes on the Prize

The Quincy Youth Hockey teams are showcasing their talent and determination in the playoffs, with notable victories across different divisions that have the community buzzing with excitement.

The Pee Wee B team staged a remarkable comeback to win their first-round playoff game. Initially trailing by two goals, Max Ritter's breakaway goal reignited the team's spirits. Soon after, Thomas Powers leveled the score, setting the stage for a tense final period. Ethan Bolton's top-corner goal sealed the victory, highlighting an exceptional team effort. The team now looks forward to facing Falmouth in their next challenge.

In another thrilling match, the Bantam B team emerged victorious against Marshfield. The game's intensity was palpable, culminating in Jackson Manning-Harvey scoring the decisive goal. Goalie Sal 'Rock Star' Altavesta's shutout performance was pivotal, with the team demonstrating outstanding teamwork and effort.

The Squirt A team also made headlines by defeating a formidable Milton team in the SSC playoffs. Despite being the underdog and having not beaten Milton previously, the Squirt A's were determined from the start. They took an early lead and managed to maintain it, even as Milton fought back fiercely. The final score was 3-2, securing their spot in the SSC semi-finals against Weymouth.
