In addition to the museum, a self-guided walking tour of the Lyons Turning Mill grounds will be available, allowing visitors to view artifacts around the mill with interpretive information at each location. The museum has recently acquired new artifacts from the collection of the late Dave Hodgdon, which are now on display at the mill, further enhancing the visitor experience.
Several new displays have also been added to the walking tour around the mill, featuring historic pictures of Quincy's granite industry accompanied by interpretive information. Visitors can explore the locations where machinery once stood by observing the foundations and stud locations.
The Quincy Quarry and Granite Workers Museum will also be open for a self-guided tour. It will showcase pictures and artifacts from Quincy's granite industry. Museum members will be present to answer questions and provide additional insights into the area's history. Visitors can purchase Quarry Museum T-shirts to support the museum during their visit.
To reach the museum and turning mill, visitors should follow these directions: From Curry's Hardware, located at the intersection of Copeland and Willard Streets in West Quincy, proceed under the expressway, staying to the right until the stop sign. The U.P.S. building will be on the other side of the ramp. Proceed with caution across the ramp onto Ricciuti Drive, and at the end, turn right onto Quarry Hills Drive. The Turning Mill will be located 100 yards on the left.
