Woodward School Wins Legal Battle Over Adams Academy Land Ownership
The Massachusetts Court of Appeals has ruled against Quincy's claim that it owns the land beneath the historic Adams Academy building, which the city took by eminent domain in 2021. The decision may require the city to pay additional compensation to the Adams Fund, whose sole beneficiary is The Woodward School for Girls. The exact value of the land is unclear, but the ruling has reignited a long-running legal dispute over the gifts made by former President John Adams in 1822. Full Story
