Two Beloved Restaurants Close as a New Japanese Eatery Opens

Quincy's culinary landscape is experiencing a major shift as two long-standing and cherished restaurants, La Paloma Mexican Restaurant and Great Chow Quincy, announce their closures, while Ōmori Izakaya and Sushi celebrate the grand opening of its new location.

La Paloma Mexican Restaurant, a beloved establishment that has served the community for 41 years, will permanently close its doors on June 29, 2024. Owners Michael Walsh and Stephen Dwyer have expressed their gratitude to the community and their dedicated staff, acknowledging the countless memories and friendships formed within the restaurant. The decision to close comes as the owners choose to retire and spend more time with their families. Patrons are encouraged to use any unused gift cards in the upcoming weeks before the closure.

Meanwhile, Great Chow Quincy, a popular Chinese restaurant, has revealed its sudden and permanent closure, effective immediately. The news has left loyal customers and the local community in shock and mourning the loss of this cherished dining establishment. Great Chow Quincy bid farewell to their patrons through a brief but heartfelt message on social media, expressing gratitude for the support they have received over the years. The sudden closure has prompted an outpouring of love, support, and shared memories from patrons who have created countless memorable moments within the restaurant's walls.

As Quincy bids farewell to these two beloved restaurants, a new player has emerged to offer exciting culinary experiences. Ōmori Izakaya and Sushi, a popular Japanese restaurant, has celebrated the grand opening of its new location at 11 Foster Street in Quincy. The restaurant promises an authentic Japanese dining experience, featuring small appetizer dishes (izakaya), yakitori grills, sushi, Japanese tap beers, liquors, and sake.

Quincy Farmers Market Set to Open for the Season

The Quincy Farmers Market is gearing up for another season of providing the community with access to fresh, locally sourced food and products. Run by a dedicated group of volunteers, the market aims to foster intercultural relationships within the community while supporting small, family-run farms and businesses.

Starting June 23rd, the market will be open every Sunday from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM, offering various goods from local vendors and artisans. The market will continue to operate until October 27th, giving residents ample opportunity to explore the offerings and connect with their community.

The Quincy Farmers Market is committed to promoting sustainable practices and strengthening the bond between urban and rural communities. By supporting local farmers and businesses, the market serves as an incubator for small enterprises while ensuring the community can access high-quality, locally produced goods.

Located at the corner of 1 Linden Street and 531 Hancock, the Quincy Farmers Market is a break-even venture, focusing on serving the needs and desires of the community rather than maximizing profits.
