Friends Rock! Music Festival Brings Bands, Food, and Fun to Ruth Gordon Amphitheater
Get ready for an unforgettable day at the Friends Rock! Music Festival, happening this Sunday, August 11th, from 2 PM to 8:30 PM at the Ruth Gordon Amphitheater. This free community event features live music, delicious food, refreshing drinks, and fun activities for all ages.
The festival will feature performances from incredible bands, showcasing a mix of emerging talents and established local favorites. Among the lineup, you'll catch the rising stars Colin McAwesome, 93 South, and Anna Daley Young, as well as headliners like Munk Duane and The Freight, known for their high-energy shows. The Freight, a Quincy-based band with a growing fanbase, was recently nominated for “Rock Act of the Year” at the New England Music Awards.
Matt Bartkus, formerly with popular local band Daisy, is making his mark as a solo artist and talented songwriter with songs like “Stay with Me” and “To the Core,” which resonate with his 20k+ listeners on Spotify.
Anna Daley Young, a rapidly rising star in the local music scene, is one of the most anticipated performers at the festival. Her debut album, Go My Own Way, garnered a nomination for Album of the Year and blends original compositions with an engaging mix of country-rock-pop. Recognized as "Country Artist of the Year" by the Boston Music Awards,
One of the late additions to the festival lineup is How We Burn, the 2024 New England Music Award’s “Last Band Standing.” They’ll join other exciting acts, including the harmonious Sweet Harmony, the soulful Jon Gorey, and the electrifying Supernova.
In addition to the music, festival-goers can enjoy a variety of food options from local vendors, such as Black’s Creek BBQ, South Shore Taco Guy, Smiles by the Miles, and Gangnam Spice. There will also be craft vendors, Henna tattoos, and games like cornhole to keep everyone entertained. Drinks will be provided by Break Rock Brewing, offering a selection of beer, wine, and seltzer.
The Friends Rock! Music Festival is more than just a day of music; it celebrates community, friendship, and local talent.
