Quincy Art Association Presents: A Summer of Art and Culture
This August, the Quincy Art Association is thrilled to offer a vibrant lineup of events celebrating creativity, community, and culture at the QArts Gallery, located at 1229 Hancock Street, Quincy, across from Quincy College. Whether you're an art enthusiast or just looking for a unique way to spend your time, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Body of Work: The 4th Group Life Exhibit From August 5 to September 3, the QArts Gallery will host the "Body of Work," the 4th Group Life Exhibit of the Quincy Art Association. This exhibition showcases the talent and dedication of the Association’s class participants, featuring an impressive array of fine art mediums. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a diverse collection of paintings, drawings, and sculptures that reflect the skill and creativity of local artists. This exhibit is a must-see for anyone interested in the visual arts.
The last Last Friday. @ QArts Gallery On Friday, August 30, from 5 to 8 PM, the QArts Gallery invites you to "The last Last Friday.," a perfect way to wrap up the summer season. Gather your friends, coworkers, or that special someone for an evening filled with art, music, and delicious treats. The evening will feature the electrifying beats of Carlos Villamil, known for his unique ElectroLatino sound. While enjoying the live music, guests can also indulge in signature beverages and tasty appetizers. This event promises to be a night of good vibes and great art. A suggested donation of $20 at the door supports the Quincy Art Association’s continued efforts to bring art to the community.
Sumi-e Painting Workshop with Tsun Ming Chmielinski For those interested in honing their artistic skills, the QArts Gallery will host two Sumi-e painting workshops with renowned artist Tsun Ming Chmielinski. These 3-hour workshops, held on Friday, August 30, and Saturday, August 31, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, offer participants a chance to learn the delicate art of Sumi-e painting. The workshop begins with a review of basic techniques using a Sumi-e brush, ink, and watercolors on rice paper. Whether you're a beginner or looking to build on previous experience, this workshop provides a unique opportunity to create original artwork in this ancient yet timeless style. The workshop fee is $60 for members and $80 for non-members, with all materials provided. Don’t miss this chance to explore the subtle beauty of Sumi-e painting and take home your own hand-painted cards.

Quincy Landlord Pays $15,200 for Excessive Rent Charges
Mario Bianco, a Quincy landlord, has settled a case for $15,200 after admitting to demanding unauthorized rent payments from a Section 8 tenant. The settlement resolves a False Claims Act violation, with Bianco found to have solicited side payments beyond what was approved by HUD. This case highlights the importance of maintaining the integrity of the Section 8 program, which supports low-income families in securing affordable housing.

Intelycare of Quincy Faces $500K Penalty for
Rate Violations
Quincy-based Intelycare, Inc. has settled for over $500,000 after being accused of overcharging long-term care facilities. The settlement is part of AG Andrea Campbell's efforts to enforce rate regulations, with penalties aiding the Long-Term Care Facility Quality Improvement Fund. Along with connectRN in Waltham, Intelycare has committed to regulatory compliance, adding to nearly $900,000 in total settlements under Campbell’s administration. Full press release.
